This is my free New York City Guide to Holiday Fun and Excitement. From the typing fingers of the experts, we will attempt to deliver an ongoing list of things you can and must do while visiting the city during the holidays.
This is the short list until we build something more substantial:
Ice Skating in the City
FIrst off, unless you have a burning desire to hang out with lots of tourists and ice skate in a small space where over crowding is encourage by he company running the outdoor rink then you should consider Wollman Rink or Rockefeller Center around the holidays. If you would rather have a great great experience, visit the Pond at Bryant Park.
Radio City Music Hall
You need tickets, see our ticket center. You may need food so we would recommend Ellen's Stardust Dinner on Broadway and 51st especially if you have kids, it's a ton of fun. DO NOT GO TO MARS 2112 under any circumstances.
Walking through Central Park or Take a Carriage The Carriage drivers are a bit of a pain, they bargin but they can spot a tourist from a mile away and they will bully you. Remember there are tons of these guys and never take a fee the hand you as universal. They know they will never see you after the ride. Just hit at least 5 of them if you must do this at all. In my opinion, unless the park is full of snow and the weather is right I cannot see how it is worth it. Here is where we talk about walking through the park. One of the most enjoyable adventures as a visitor during the holidays is a walk through a snowy Central Park. Walking by all the park icons and seeing them under white blankets is just beautiful. The trees if you catch the right day are beautiful to examine and if you are really visiting at the right time you'll see all the kids out with their sleds. It's generally quite and peaceful and it cannot be beat.
