Greenpoint bar Shayz Lounge is closing this month

Shayz Lounge, the beloved bar with the corny name at 130 Franklin Street, has announced that it’s closing on January 20. It’s another victim of the insane gentrification that’s hit the neighborhood.

Of course this is just further proof that when the New York Post calls Greenpoint the “hottest” neighborhood in the city, they’re really speaking to developers and fedora-wearing millennials with trust funds.

It is with a true true heavy heart we must announce that we are closing our doors after 10 years of serving Greenpoint and Brooklyn’s finest it’s been a great journey with so many fantastic memories and unforgettable nights but on the night of Sunday January 20th we will close our doors for good. Shay, Jimmy & all of our staff would love to see you for one last time to say goodbye…Much love Brooklyn but all good things come to an end…..Last Call …
