Lower East Side Resident in Wheelchair Robbed by Suspect Posing as NYCHA Worker

Cops are looking for a suspect who posed as a NYCHA employee, forced his way into the apartment of a 73-year-old amputee and stole $300.

It happened Wednesday in a fifth floor apartment of the Vladeck Houses on Madison Street. The suspect pulled a gun and burned the victim, who is confined to a wheelchair, with a hot knife. The resident was told to stay in the bathroom for 20 minutes to give the suspect time to get away.

The victim was hospitalized in stable condition. A home health aid was with him at the time of the robbery.

A man wanted for questioning is described as around 30 years old, 5-foot-9 and 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black skullcap, a North Face two-tone coat with stars, blue jeans and black sneakers.
