12-Year-Old Boy Shot in the Neck in Yonkers: Police

A 12-year-old boy is in serious but stable condition after getting shot in the neck in Yonkers, police say.

Police officers found the boy on the ground in front of 73-83 Highland Avenue in Yonkers with a single gunshot wound to his neck around 1:48 a.m. on Sunday, officials said.

He was taken to a local trauma center, where he went into surgery, and was listed in serious but stable condition, according to police.

Police say the boy was with a group of other kids in front of the building when a car pulled up and two people got out.

Both of them allegedly fired a single shot in the direction of the group, one of which hit the boy, police said. They fled the scene after the shooting.

No one had been arrested in connection with the shooting as of Sunday morning. An investigation is ongoing.
