Woman Hit by 2 Cars Dies; One Driver Flees Scene: Police

A woman died after she was hit by two different cars on Long Island — one of which fled the scene, police said.

The woman was crossing Mastic Road, at the intersection of Southaven Avenue, around 11:50 p.m. on Saturday when a driver traveling south in a 2004 Acura hit the woman, knocking her down, Suffolk County police said.

A man driving south in a silver, four-door Chevrolet Impala then ran the woman over, according to police.

The man initially stopped his car, but fled the scene soon after, police said. The Acura driver stayed at the scene.

The woman was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead, according to police. Her name and age weren’t immediately released.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the Major Case Unit at 631-852-6555 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
